At least three Palestinian women have been killed and eight more injured after missile debris hit a beauty salon in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

The PRCS reported that shrapnel struck the salon in Beit Awwa, located near Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

Fragments landed on a metal caravan used as a salon and other locations across the West Bank, as reported by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

A Thai worker was also killed from shrapnel in a farming community in Israel, as stated by Israeli medics.

The tragic events unfolded on Wednesday night, shortly after Israel's military announced it was working to intercept an Iranian missile attack.

Those killed in the salon have been identified as 17-year-old Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, 50-year-old Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, and 36-year-old Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa' Masalmeh.

The PRCS indicated that emergency response teams, including at least five ambulances, rushed to the scene and encountered several casualties and injuries.

The deceased women's bodies were transported to a local hospital, and the PRCS initially reported four fatalities before correcting it to three.

The rescue teams faced significant access challenges due to iron gates that hindered their arrival time, which the PRCS noted had a direct impact on saving the injured victims.

In Israel, the Thai worker was killed in Moshav Adanim, about 20km northeast of Tel Aviv, where emergency services reported metal shrapnel scattered across the scene. His identity has not been disclosed.

The BBC has sought comments from the Israeli military regarding the incidents.
