A tragic shooting incident occurred in El Ejido, southern Spain, where a 25-year-old man is suspected of killing his parents and injuring four others, including two young children. The shooting was reported around 23:00 local time on Monday, sending shockwaves through the small town. Authorities confirmed that the injured included a seven-month-old baby, reportedly the suspect's son, and another child aged 18 months. A 60-year-old man was also among the injured and all victims have been hospitalized with serious injuries.

The suspect, who briefly fled the scene, turned himself in at a local police station shortly after the incident. The identities of both the suspect and the victims have not been disclosed pending further investigation. Spain's Guardia Civil is currently working to ascertain a motive for this unusual act of violence, as mass shootings are rare in the country. According to statistics, there have been only four recorded mass shootings in Spain from 2000 to 2023.
