LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Facing extreme cold temperatures, a Kentucky family decided to take action by rescuing a newborn calf that was found struggling in the deep freeze. The Sorrells, residing in Mount Sterling, quickly brought the calf into their home to protect it from the freezing conditions.
After initial care, including warming the calf with a blow dryer and cleaning it up, the calf found a cozy spot on the couch next to the family’s two children. Macey Sorrell shared photos of this adorable moment on social media, capturing the hearts of many. Her son Gregory even named the calf Sally after a character in his favorite movie, 'Cars.'
“When we brought her in, she had ice on her. Her umbilical cord looked like a popsicle,” Macey recounted. The family has roughly three dozen cows and is accustomed to bringing animals indoors when the weather turns harsh. They moved quickly to rescue Sally, especially after losing a calf to frostbite the previous winter.
Fortunately, Sally was reunited with her mother the following day and is currently thriving. This experience, while unique to many, was just another case for the Sorrell family, who believes in caring for their animals during extreme weather conditions.
