The partner of US influencer Ashly Robinson, who died last week while on holiday with him in Zanzibar, has had his passport withheld by local police. Joe McCann, 45, is currently speaking to authorities as a witness, with no arrests made thus far. The police have previously stated that he is not suspected of wrongdoing.
Zanzibar's police indicated that Robinson, 31, known online as Ashlee Jenae, had allegedly attempted suicide. McCann has not publicly commented on the situation. In a US interview, Robinson’s parents expressed their confusion, stating her death in Tanzania 'doesn’t make any sense'.
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing, including the need for an official medical examination report. Robinson was found unconscious in her villa and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Days prior to her death, she had celebrated her birthday and been engaged, raising further questions about the circumstances leading to her demise. The local police chief mentioned a reported misunderstanding between the couple that led to their separation into different rooms by hotel management. Zuri Zanzibar, the hotel where they stayed, is cooperating with authorities but has not disclosed further details regarding the case.
With condolences offered by the US State Department, which confirmed the death of an American in Zanzibar, Robinson’s family continues to collaborate with the investigations to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
