Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky states that the United States wants the war with Russia to end by June, revealing that both Ukraine and Russia have been invited to the US for peace talks next week. 'America proposed for the first time that the two negotiating teams – Ukraine and Russia – meet in the United States of America, probably in Miami, in a week. We confirmed our participation,' Zelensky commented.

While there has been no immediate response from Washington or Moscow, US President Donald Trump has consistently advocated for an end to the conflict since taking office again over a year ago. The situation remains tense as Russia intensifies its attacks on Ukraine's energy systems, leading to widespread blackouts amid severe winter conditions.

President Zelensky further mentioned that during the second round of US-brokered peace talks in Abu Dhabi, 'difficult issues remained difficult,' including territorial concessions from Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of preliminary arrangements for a potential trilateral meeting between the leaders of the involved nations.

Zelensky relayed that the Americans have set a goal for an agreement by June, articulating concerns that domestic issues in the US might influence these negotiations. The persistent Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure significantly impact civilians, with energy minister Denys Shmyhal confirming increased power deficits due to recent assaults on energy facilities.

Despite the ongoing hardships, Zelensky remains engaged in diplomatic efforts, even as he noted that Russia continues its attacks, resulting in significant operational damage to Ukraine's energy grid and threatening the well-being of the population, who are forced to seek shelter in metro stations.
