A 21‑year‑old woman has been taken into custody after an assault that left three students injured inside a Warsaw school.
The attacker used a knife – described by police as a “dangerous object” – to stab a 17‑year‑old girl, who was later transported to a hospital but is not in life‑threatening condition. Two other women, aged 17 and 24, were struck while they were at the school to submit enrollment documents.
This incident is the third knife attack reported in Poland this week, following a 19‑year‑old student’s attack on nine people at a vocational school in Mazovia and an earlier incident that killed a 37‑year‑old caretaker in Leszczydół‑Nowiny.
Polish police have been moving through schools across the country, arresting 76 suspects in total. The latest assault has yet to be linked definitively to the previous attacks, though authorities are investigating the possibility of an internet‑based challenge influencing the youths.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that “there is no room for compromise” when it comes to the safety of children and the peace of schools, while Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński has reported detaining a 17‑year‑old boy in Sierpc after he threatened to harm someone on school grounds.
