HAMMONTON, N.J. (PulseWire) — A midair collision involving two helicopters in New Jersey resulted in one death and left another pilot critically injured on Sunday morning. According to Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel, responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported around 11:25 a.m. and worked to extinguish flames from one of the downed helicopters. The FAA reported that the aircraft involved were an Enstrom F-28A and an Enstrom 280C, both of which had only the pilots on board at the time.
Video footage from the crash site showed one helicopter spinning uncontrollably as it descended. Emergency crews transported the surviving pilot to a local hospital where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
