Sevastopol Loses Power After Ukraine Drone Attack on Crimea Power Substation

\

A Ukrainian drone strike on Sevastopol last night damaged the city’s main power substation, leaving the Port City of Crimea without electricity until Wednesday night, the Russian‑appointed governor announced on Telegram.

\

According to Moscow‑installed officials, the attack came as part of Kyiv’s campaign targeting strategic energy infrastructure in occupied territories to pressure President Putin into negotiating. Officials warned that several neighbourhoods would remain blacked out while repairs are assessed.

\

Residents were urged to conserve power: turn screens down, shut background apps and check on elderly neighbours as temperatures climb to 30 °C over the weekend. The energy outage is compounded by a fuel embargo that took effect earlier, causing cars to queue for gasoline at the city’s only petrol station.

Commanding officer Robert Brovdi of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces confirmed that drones also struck 48 other military sites across Crimea, including Bakhchisarai and Kerch, and heard the sound of explosions at Mount Ai‑Petri where a Russian Aerospace Forces radio battalion is stationed.

\

The situation underscores the growing intensity of attacks on Crimea, where Russia maintains road and rail links through occupied southern Ukraine and the Kerch Strait bridge. While Ukraine claims the territory remains Ukrainian, its annexation in 2014 has linked it to Russia’s supply lines.
