The Powerball jackpot has jumped to an eye-popping $1.7 billion, after the 46th drawing passed without a big winner.
The numbers drawn on Monday night were 3, 18, 36, 41, 54 and the Powerball 7.
Since September 6, there have been 46 straight drawings without a big winner, leading to an unprecedented jackpot.
The next drawing is set for Christmas Eve on Wednesday, where the prize is expected to become the 4th-largest in U.S. lottery history.
Powerball’s odds of winning stand at 1 in 292.2 million, which generates such massive jackpots. However, players have better chances of winning smaller prizes through the game's designs, with three drawings each week.
Winners may choose a payout through 30 payments over 29 years as an annuity, but typically opt for the cash option, which for the recent drawing is estimated at $735.3 million.
Powerball tickets are priced at $2 and are available in 45 states along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
