President Donald Trump filed a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against The New York Times and four of its journalists on Monday, according to court documents. The lawsuit, submitted in U.S. District Court in Florida, accuses the newspaper of a sustained campaign of intentional and malicious defamation against Trump leading up to the 2024 presidential election.

The filing cites multiple articles and a book by two Times journalists, claiming that the defendants made false statements about him with negligence or a reckless disregard for the truth.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that The New York Times has been lying about him, labeling it as a “virtual mouthpiece” for the Radical Left Democrat Party.

The New York Times has not yet responded to requests for comments about the lawsuit, which adds to a series of legal actions Trump has undertaken against various media entities. Earlier in July, he filed a $10 billion lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal after the paper published a story connected to his associations with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
