Their daughter Alice also took to Facebook to share her sorrow, writing, "Cancer sucks. I'll look for you in all the fun moments of life. I know that's where you'll be."
Throughout her prolific career, Mahaffey garnered numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series in 1992 for her role as Eve in the acclaimed series "Northern Exposure." Before that, she won a Daytime Emmy for her work in the soap opera "The Doctors," which aired from 1979 to 1981. Mahaffey also featured in several films, including "Sully" and "Seabiscuit," and her recent performances included Madame Reynard in the 2020 film "French Exit," earning her an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
Born in Sumatra, Indonesia to a Canadian mother and American father, Mahaffey moved to Texas as a teen.
