Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, after stating that Ukrainian drones could bolster security in the Gulf region.

Important meetings are scheduled. We appreciate the support of those who are ready to work with us to ensure security, and we support them too, he mentioned on social media.

Earlier, Zelensky highlighted Ukraine's drone technology as a potential asset for global security, especially in the Gulf. He remarked, This matters because energy security - and the cost of living, particularly in Europe - depends on their oil, gas and other resources, and stable global markets.

He stressed the significance of having real experience in integrating drone technology with air defense systems, stating, We have this experience. Zelensky is looking for assistance in defending Ukraine from the ongoing Russian aggression, expressing, We would like Middle Eastern states to also give us an opportunity to strengthen ourselves. They have certain air defense missiles of which we don't have enough. That's what we'd like to reach a deal on.

The BBC noted that several Ukrainian drone manufacturers have been approached by Gulf states seeking collaboration, but government approval is still pending. Kvertus, a Ukrainian company specializing in anti-drone systems, indicated interest from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Zinovsky, CEO of TAF Industries, mentioned that discussions with representatives from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and Kuwait are ongoing, yet they await coordination with the Ukrainian government for any export approvals.

Reports have surfaced regarding the U.S. contemplating diverting weaponry meant for Ukraine to the Gulf due to increasing tensions with Iran, potentially amplifying the urgency for Ukraine's drone partnerships in the region.
