A Russian strike has killed at least four people, including three young children, in a town west of Kharkiv, a Ukrainian official says.

Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, stated that two boys, both aged 1, a two-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man died after a drone hit a house they were occupying.

A 35-year-old pregnant woman and another woman, aged 76, suffered injuries as a result of the attack on Bohodukhiv. This tragic event unfolded on Tuesday night, coinciding with a renewed offensive from Moscow, which had observed a week of minimal strikes following a request from U.S. President Donald Trump to Russian President Vladimir Putin during severe cold weather in Ukraine.

Just hours prior, Russian forces launched additional assaults, dropping bombs on the city of Slovyansk, leading to the deaths of two individuals, including an 11-year-old girl.

Authorities revealed that earlier drone strikes across Ukraine left a significant portion of the population without power, including a deadly incident that resulted in four fatalities, one of which was a mother with her 10-year-old son in Bohodukhiv.

With a damaged power plant and declared state of emergency in Kharkiv, local leaders express deep concern over the impact of recent attacks aimed at critical transport and energy infrastructures.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the increasing pressure from Russian forces and the urgency for a strategic resolution, as both sides have been invited to the U.S. next week for discussions aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.

While international diplomatic efforts continue, a large drone attack in the Volgograd region of Russia has also been reported, further illustrating the escalating nature of this conflict.
