UNION, N.J. (AP) — A mass shooting occurred Saturday night at a Chick-fil-A in Union, New Jersey, claiming the life of one individual and leaving six others injured. Police have stated that they do not consider the shooting a random act of violence. The incident took place around 9 p.m., and while no arrests have been made as of yet, the Union County Prosecutor's Office has asserted that there is 'no immediate ongoing threat to the general public.' Reports from the scene indicated that a rideshare driver heard more than seven shots fired in quick succession as he neared the restaurant. New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill extended her condolences via social media, offering support to the victim's family and wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured. She called on the public for any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation. A spokesperson from Chick-fil-A declined to comment due to the nature of the investigation, which is currently being led by the Homicide Task Force of the county prosecutor's office.
