Because of the severity and potential contagion of the attack, the event was immediately cancelled and the “Evacuation” directive was projected on a large screen. In the aftermath, authorities report that several people were stabbed too.

At 01:00 local time, officials announced that the incident had claimed one life and left 16 others with injuries. Police have launched an intensive manhunt across the city, with officers from surrounding states joining the search. In an X statement at 03:30, police identified a suspect with Islamist links. They have specifically named the suspect as 21‑year‑old Abdul B but, per German law, have omitted his surname. The suspect is believed to have been wearing a black hooded top and white trousers at the time of the incident.
