The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has issued an urgent warning for consumers of Celsius energy drinks to check their cans due to a serious mix-up that resulted in certain packages being filled with vodka instead of the intended energy drink. The concern centers around the Astro Vibe Blue Razz edition, which was improperly filled with alcohol after a packaging mishap involving the vodka seltzer company, High Noon.

The error occurred when a supplier mistakenly sent empty Celsius cans to High Noon, leading to contamination with vodka. In light of this incident, High Noon is also recalling select Beach Variety packs that were produced on the same line. Thankfully, as of now, the USFDA has reported no illnesses or adverse reactions linked to the affected products.

The recall specifically affects two production lots, which the USFDA has detailed on its official website. These items were distributed to retailers in multiple states including Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin during the period of July 21 to July 23. The recalled High Noon Beach Variety packages have the retail code UPC 085000040065 and are marked with the following lot codes: L CCC 17JL25 from 14:00 to 23:59 and L CCC 18JL25 from 00:00 to 03:00.

For the Celsius cans, consumers should look for the retail code UPC 8 89392 00134 1 alongside the lot codes: L CCB 02JL25 from 2:55 to 3:11. It is important to note that these lot codes can be found lasered on the bottom of the cans.

In its advisory, the USFDA recommends that anyone in possession of the affected Celsius Astro Vibe energy drink cans dispose of them immediately and refrain from consuming any contents. On a positive note, other High Noon Beach Variety pack lot codes are unaffected by this recall and remain safe for consumption.
