The trial, held at the Rockingham District Court, focused on allegations that Yung Filly sexually assaulted a 20‑year‑old fan in the hotel room following a performance at the Hillarys night‑club in 2024. After a jury deliberated, they returned a final verdict on Friday, noting the defendant was not guilty of three rape charges but convicted of two assault occasioning bodily harm, and one charge of strangulation.

Barrientos‑known on social‑media as Yung Filly, had gone on trial after being charged in October 2023. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. While he was ruled innocent for the rape accusations, the court found his violent actions in the hotel room constituted assault. He is expected to remain on bail until 21 August, when a sentencing hearing will take place.
