FBI Stops Planned Drone Bombing of White House UFC Event
The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that it thwarted a multi‑state plot to bomb a UFC 250 competition held on the White House South Lawn during President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday celebration.
FBI Director Kash Patel posted the news on X, noting that “allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold.” Several suspects were taken into custody as part of a “multi‑state operation,” and investigators seized Signal chats that detailed the attack scheme.
According to sources, the plot would have involved sending bomb‑laden drones toward nearby buildings to spark panic and drive the crowd toward a sniper team. A second wave of attackers was purportedly planned to storm the White House gates once the crowd was distracted.
The FBI’s statement stressed that the agency’s mission is “to detect, respond to and bring to justice those who threaten American citizens—particularly during large gatherings.” The operation, conducted across multiple states, included a suspect arrested in Cincinnati last week.
Secret Service Director Sean Curran said the agency had worked closely with the FBI and that formal statements on the case will appear in court filings. The UFC event, a celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary, drew thousands of attendees and was marked by President Trump’s presence on his milestone birthday.
