His claims echo similar denials from other associates. WASHINGTON (AP) — During a House Oversight Committee hearing, Darren Indyke, the long-time attorney for Jeffrey Epstein, testified that he was unaware of the financier's sexual abuse of minors while it was occurring. This statement mirrors the claims of other associates linked to Epstein, who have also denied knowledge of the crimes.

In his opening statement, Indyke affirmed, I had had no knowledge whatsoever of Epstein's illicit activities and would have severed ties had he known of the alleged trafficking of girls. This assertion comes in the wake of skepticism from lawmakers, particularly Democrats, who criticized his seemingly defensive attitude during the questioning.

Indyke, alongside Richard Kahn (another of Epstein's associates), serves as the executor of Epstein’s estate, and congressional members had hoped they would shed light on Epstein's abusive actions. However, attempts to gain meaningful revelations have been met with roadblocks.

Democratic lawmakers voiced their dissatisfaction, highlighting that witnesses frequently assert ignorance about Epstein's misconduct until it garnered public attention. Rep. James Comer, the committee chair, amplified frustrations over Indyke's continuity working for Epstein after the latter's 2008 guilty plea related to soliciting a minor, during which Indyke claimed Epstein characterized it as a one-time incident.

Despite their testimony, many Democrats express suspicion that Indyke and Kahn are deliberately evasive regarding Epstein’s illegal activities. Both have reached a settlement agreement in a class-action lawsuit with Epstein's abuse survivors, amounting to $35 million, without admitting wrongdoing.

A growing demand for more transparency arises as lawmakers seek access to additional documents related to the estate and Epstein’s connections. Many hope these will clarify ties between Epstein and major figures, including former President Bill Clinton and prominent political allies.

Democrats are also exploring allegations against Donald Trump tied to Epstein, further complicating the investigations with increasing political tensions between parties. The ongoing inquiry reflects a significant clash as lawmakers push for accountability amid ongoing investigations into Epstein's crimes.
