The deadliest Ebola epidemic ever has taken 2 325 lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, officials say, surpassing the 2018‑2020 outbreak.


Across six of the country’s 26 provinces, 4,945 confirmed cases have been reported, with 101 new cases in the past 24 hours.


The virus, of the Bundibugyo strain, has no approved vaccine yet, but trials using the AstraZeneca‑derived technology are in progress, and the UK MHRA has cleared the first human trials.


WHO estimates that it will take three months to revert spread, not to eradicate the virus entirely. Symptoms mimic flu or malaria and spread through bodily fluids.


Internationally, 20 cases have been confirmed in Uganda, with isolated cases in Germany and France. Local and global health agencies are mobilizing resources amid resource‑scarce conditions and ongoing conflict.
