ERIKSEN IN GOOD HEALTH AFTER COLLAPSE

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen wrote on Instagram that he is "doing well" following a collapse in Sunday’s friendly against Ukraine.

The 34‑year‑old spent the night in hospital but says he’s already started recovering and walked off the pitch after regaining consciousness.

His implantable cardioverter‑defibrillator (ICD), fitted in 2021 after a cardiac arrest, worked as intended, keeping him safe during the incident.

"The ICD responded as it should. My focus is on recovery, family, vacation and playing football with my children," Eriksen added.

He thanked the medical team and his family for support, noting the pandemic‑style protocols that allowed the collapse to be handled quickly.

Neither Denmark nor Ukraine qualified for the upcoming World Cup. The match was abandoned after his collapse.

Eriksen has resumed playing for VFL Wolfsburg after the ICD enabled a return in 2022, and other athletes have continued after similar heart devices were fitted.
