A 63‑year‑old British paragliding enthusiast has lost his life in a tragic accident near Palau de Noguera, a popular launch site close to Tremp in Catalonia’s Pyrenees.

Emergency services were alerted at about 13:30 local time (14:30 BST) on Wednesday. Rescuers found the man seriously injured, rendered first aid, but he later died while medical teams were on the scene.
Initial local media reports suggest the pilot may have become tangled in power lines before hitting the ground, although the official cause of the accident remains unconfirmed.
The Catalan government sent three fire brigades and two medical teams, and the Mossos d'Esquadra worked with five citizen‑security units to investigate the incident.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed that it was supporting the family of the deceased British man, and authorities were expected to relay information to the family through consular channels.
