At a government meeting on Thursday, Tajikistan’s presidential press service announced that state budget revenue will reach 80.1 billion somoni, or about 8.7 billion U.S. dollars, in 2027 – a 23.2 percent increase from the approved 2026 figure.
President Emomali Rahmon led the meeting and urged ministries and agencies to adopt measures to hit the target, including accelerating digitalization, expanding the tax base, clearing arrears, boosting domestic production, and cutting imports.
The budget plan earmarks 36.7 billion somoni – roughly 44.8 percent of total expenditures – for social spending in 2027.
In addition to the 2027 forecast, the draft budget law projects state revenue at 90.2 billion somoni for 2028 and 104.6 billion somoni for 2029.
State officials cited the need for electronic data exchange and broader tax coverage as key to achieving the projected growth, while emphasizing the role of domestic production in sustaining the fiscal trajectory.
