In brief

Kazakhstan’s 2026 grain harvest topped 24.3 million tonnes, the largest yield in fifteen years, the ministry said. Grain exports grew 9 % to 1.657 million tonnes between September and 19 October, and two‑year totals of 15.5 and 16 million tonnes set new records since independence.

On Wednesday, the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture announced that the country harvested 24.3 million tonnes of grain during the 2026 campaign, the highest figure in fifteen years, Xinhua reported from Almaty.

The ministry added that Turkey’s national railway operator, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, confirmed exports reached 1.657 million tonnes from September to 19 October 2026, a 9 % increase from the previous year.

Over the two marketing years covering September 2024 to August 2025 and September 2025 to August 2026, the ministry recorded 15.5 million tonnes and 16 million tonnes of grain and flour in grain equivalent, respectively. Both totals were the largest since Kazakhstan’s independence.

While the data reflect a surge in grain output, the ministry stated that “larger volumes were logged in only two previous years,” indicating that this year’s harvest is among the most productive in recent history.

These figures underscore a significant expansion in Kazakhstan’s grain sector, marking a solid start to the year’s export efforts and setting new benchmarks for future harvests.
