In brief
Meraas launched a sensory installation at Dubai Design Week that interprets the Dubai Design District’s five planned areas. The event attracts more than 50 countries of designers and includes talks, workshops, music sessions, and an array of creative partners. WAM reports the installation will host daily listening sessions and interactive discussions on design’s role in shaping the city’s creative economy.
On 4 November 2026, Meraas, a member of Dubai Holding Real Estate, unveiled its Meraas Creative Living Space at Dubai Design Week, bringing a sensory interpretation of the Dubai Design District (d3) masterplan to life, according to WAM.
The space, conceived with Duette Studio, translates d3’s five areas—The Creekside, Design HQ, SOHO, The Sanctuary and The Mindspace—into a series of immersive experiences that explore how homes, public spaces and cultural life can converge to shape everyday life within the district.
Key partners assembled for the installation include Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Woods Bagot and U+A, alongside a diverse roster of voices from across Dubai’s architecture, design and creative community, as reported by WAM.
The programme running from 4 to 8 November will host design, culture and music sessions, workshops and live talks that examine the creative economy, design processes and the evolution of d3 as Dubai’s creative hub. Sessions will also probe how design connects people and places and nurtures community character.
In the evenings, the SOHO element of the space will feature daily listening sessions with Ben Palace, DJ Liutik and Karrouhat, inviting visitors to experience music as part of the district’s cultural life, WAM notes.
Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District, said:
Design plays a central role in shaping how people live and interact with their surroundings.
Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, added:
Design is a key contributor to Dubai’s creative economy by connecting creative ideas and skills with production capabilities and commercial opportunities.
Natasha Carella, Director of Dubai Design Week, stated:
This year’s programme explores the relationship between design and human connection, alongside experimentation with materials, traditional crafts and emerging technologies.
The 12th Dubai Design Week, inaugurated on the same day, welcomed designers from more than 50 countries who are presenting over 40 projects that blend cultural heritage with contemporary practice, WAM reports. The week includes exhibitions, installations, talks and workshops under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and is part of TECOM Group’s strategic partnership with Dubai Design District.
