In brief
The tech industry faces unexpected changes as Kristin Cabot, the Chief People Officer at Astronomer, resigns following a viral video of her embracing the company's CEO at a Coldplay concert. This incident, which gained millions of views on social media after being captured on camera, has drawn significant media attention, particularly due to the subsequent resignation of Andy Byron, the company’s former CEO, just a week prior.
In the now-famous clip, Cabot and Byron were seen enjoying the concert before attempting to duck and hide when the camera zoomed in on them. Coldplay's frontman, Chris Martin, humorously remarked, "Either they're having an affair, or they're just very shy," as the audience reacted to the situation. The resulting buzz on social media turned the incident into a meme, with many users making light of the pair’s discomfort.Following the weekend events, Astronomer initiated an investigation and announced Byron would be placed on leave. The day after, the company confirmed his resignation, and Pete DeJoy, co-founder and chief product officer, stepped in as interim CEO. DeJoy addressed the unusual spotlight the company has found itself in, acknowledging the rapid surge in attention and reiterating their commitment to progress despite the challenges at hand.
