Yung Filly Says ‘Vibes Were Good’ in Court Amid Rape Allegations
UK rapper Yung Filly has told a Perth court that the “vibes were good” when he met a 20‑year‑old woman he is accused of raping at a Perth nightclub in 2024.
The rapper, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, took the witness stand at the District Court of Western Australia on Monday, a week after the start of his trial. He is accused of sexually assaulting the woman in his hotel room following a performance in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth.
Barrientos, 30, has pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of strangulation. He maintains that he “fancied” the victim when they crossed paths at the venue, and denied touching her inappropriately—only claiming a hand on her waist.
He described the “vibes were good” between them when they later went to his hotel. According to Barrientos, his security guard took her phone away as a standard practice to protect privacy. The court heard that the pair had engaged in consensual sex before he allegedly turned violent and the woman told him to stop.
Yung Filly’s tour of Australia was interrupted by the charges. He was on bail for the past six months and was allowed to fly back to the UK in September for four months before returning to Western Australia for the trial. He has 1.8 million subscribers on YouTube, 3 million followers on TikTok, and 2.4 million on Instagram.
