At least six people have been killed in a violent shooting in the West Bank village of Tal, making it the deadliest incident in the region in months.

Four Palestinians, all members of the same family, and two Israeli soldiers were shot dead. Israeli troops and Israeli settlers were said to have been involved in the confrontation, according to eyewitness reports.

Following the attack, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared a surge of counter‑terrorism operations and dispatched reinforcements to the northern West Bank near the settlement of Havat Gilad.

The Palestinian foreign ministry condemned the incident as a “massacre” and accused Israeli occupation forces of enabling settler violence. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a “full‑force” response and called for the demolition of the shooter’s home.

The event has intensified already‑existing tensions, as violent clashes between settlers and Palestinians have risen since the Gaza war flare‑up in October 2023.
