In brief
Two passengers share their harrowing experiences after a Delta Air Lines flight crash-lands in Toronto, leaving the aircraft upside down. Miraculously, all 80 people onboard are expected to survive.
A Delta Air Lines flight carrying 80 people from Minneapolis encountered a dramatic incident while landing at Toronto's airport, ending up belly side up. Despite the alarming situation, all passengers and crew members are anticipated to be safe. Among the witnesses, Pete Koukov, a professional skier bound for a ski film project, recounted a seemingly ordinary descent that swiftly turned chaotic. He described the moment the plane's wheels made contact with the ground, leading to a skid that flipped the aircraft over. "As flames erupted upon landing, I quickly unbuckled and crouched down, which felt like the ceiling while we were upside down," he shared, elaborating on the panic that spread among passengers as they escaped via emergency exits onto the snow-dusted runway. Another passenger, Pete Carlson, a paramedic headed to a conference, reflected on the sudden shift from a routine landing to a disorienting crash. "One minute, you're nearing a friendly reunion, and the next, you're upside down, feeling the hard impact of metal and cement as the plane came to a stop," he noted. Authorities have not confirmed the precise causes of the crash, but reports indicate that turbulent winds may have played a role in this shocking incident at one of Canada's main airports. Emergency services were on hand immediately following the incident, and both passengers and crew were assessed without serious injuries.
