Two people in France have been convicted of aggravated violence, following an investigation into the death of a French streamer known for extreme challenges.
Raphaël Graven, 46, died in a village near Nice in August 2025. His death was live‑broadcast on the streaming platform Kick.
The internet personality was routinely subjected to humiliation and abuse on his streams, which the convicted men, Safine Hamadi and Owen Cenazandotti, said occurred with his consent.
Hamadi and Cenazandotti each received suspended prison sentences—18 months for Hamadi and two years for Cenazandotti—and were fined €5,000 and €15,000 respectively.
Neither man was charged with manslaughter; the prosecution argued that probable causes of death appeared linked to Graven’s poor health and fragile heart.
Both were also acquitted of abusing Graven’s psychological frailty, after he had previously told police that he consented to the stunts.
Hamadi expressed remorse during the trial, while Cenazandotti’s lawyer highlighted his client’s submission of consent.
Both men have been banned from posting on Kick for six months.
Investigations into Kick continue under French authorities. Kick stated it was not a party to the proceedings against the two and had no comment on the outcome.
Graven had more than one million followers across his social platforms and built a strong community on Kick. During broadcasts, other streamers regularly subjected him to acts of violence and verbal humiliation.
Graven was found dead in Contes, a village north of Nice, on 18 August. Local media reported that a livestream showed him lying lifeless on a mattress covered with a duvet. That video has since been removed from Kick.
