Tributes are pouring in for Mel Schilling, the renowned relationship coach and star of 'Married At First Sight', following her death after a long battle with cancer. Co-star Paul C Brunson shared an emotional tribute, describing her as 'fearless', 'tough', and 'deeply loved'.
Schilling, who featured prominently on both the Australian and UK versions of the reality show, passed away on Tuesday, two years after her initial cancer diagnosis. Brunson, who worked alongside her for five years, praised her extraordinary resilience, stating she maintained her professionalism and strength despite undergoing treatment.
'Despite the travel, the treatment, the strain on her body... she showed up fully every single time with a smile,' he noted, emphasizing her unwavering dedication to her role. E4 released a statement affirming that it was Schilling's family's wish to continue airing 'Married At First Sight' in her honor.
Brunson highlighted Schilling’s fierce advocacy for women and the LGBTQ+ community, stating, 'Mel was tough. A straight talker. Strong in every sense.' He reflected on her softer side when she spoke of her family, particularly her daughter Maddie and husband Gareth.
Tributes have also flowed from other co-stars, including Alessandra Rampolla, who expressed her heartfelt sorrow and gratitude for their time together. She recalled Schilling as a guiding force and someone who possessed immense heart and wisdom.
'Mel showed us what it means to live your values and show up with strength, even when it's hard,' Brunson concluded, acknowledging the lasting impact Schilling will have on all who knew her.
