Seven Italian climbers still missing in Nepal
Italy says seven of its citizens are missing in Nepal after trying to climb a Himalayan peak in the north-east of the country. Officials reported that the Italian team was at the base camp of Dolma Khang peak, which has an elevation of 6,332m (20,774ft), in Dolakha district.
Three other Italian climbers have been confirmed dead this week, including in an avalanche that struck close to Dolma Khang on Monday. A senior Italian diplomat from neighbouring India has arrived in Kathmandu to coordinate with the Nepalese authorities and search teams.

Nepal has faced severe weather, including ferocious storms, resulting in injuries and deaths among climbers and local guides. The Italian foreign ministry confirmed three climber fatalities, with no news on seven others, including Marco Di Marcello and Markus Kircheler. Both were reportedly in the Yalung Ri area where the avalanche occurred.
Rescue efforts are complicated by the ongoing adverse weather conditions, with reports from local tourism officials indicating that they have been in contact with search teams at the Dolma Khang base camp.
As the situation develops, families and officials are hoping for positive news, but competing reports have made it difficult to ascertain the exact details of the missing climbers.
Additionally, the search for two other Italian climbers missing near the Panbari peak area has concluded with the recovery of their bodies. The dangerous conditions this season underscore the risks faced by adventurers in the Nepali Himalayas.
