LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A UPS cargo plane tragically crashed in Louisville last week, leaving 14 people dead, including a grandfather and his granddaughter, and three pilots onboard. Mayor Craig Greenberg expressed deep sorrow at a news conference, reflecting on the loss and the stories left unfinished for the victims' families.
Among those who perished were veterans in the air, Capt. Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Capt. Dana Diamond. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are currently at the crash site, gathering evidence as the local coroner’s office has confirmed the identification of all victims.
The fatalities also include local workers, one being John Spray, who tragically died while he was at the Grade A Auto Parts & Recycling business, and Louisnes Fedon, who had taken his granddaughter for a visit. Eyewitness accounts captured the crash, revealing an aircraft plowing into businesses, culminating in a massive fireball. Families and friends have begun to initiate fundraising efforts to cope with their sudden losses.
