A multi‑storey scaffolding dangling from a building on Cheung Sha Wan Road was ripped away by the strong winds of Typhoon Noul on Saturday, police said. Witnesses reported the sudden collapse, but no one was injured.
The typhoon – the strongest to hit mainland China this year – also forced Hong Kong airport to cancel about 360 passenger flights as it battered the region with high winds and heavy rain.
Footage shot from a drone shows the scaffold sliding to the street as the storm moves across the city.
Emergency services continue to monitor the situation and are on standby as Typhoon Noul proceeds to landfall in southern China.
