Disillusioned Trump Supporter Takes a Deep Dive into Epstein Files
After Cayden McBride finishes class in Rome, Georgia, the 19-year-old goes home, opens his laptop, and starts searching. For the past few months, he has been spending hours at a time combing through the Jeffrey Epstein files on the US Department of Justice (DOJ) website and following others online who are doing the same.
Flight logs, transcripts, images, and videos have provided new insights into the crimes of the late convicted sex offender and his high-profile connections. McBride believes the Epstein files still matter, even as other headlines shift towards different global issues.
“As a Christian, I don’t believe anybody should endure what these women have been through,” he states. McBride, describing himself as a former “Trump guy” and supporter of the MAGA movement, has grown disillusioned with the political approach to the Epstein case, particularly after delays in filing release and perceived lack of accountability.
His frustrations intensified with the recent removal of former attorney general Pam Bondi, which he hopes may lead to renewed focus on Epstein’s connections and crimes. Ironically, Melania Trump’s unexpected comments calling for a congressional hearing for Epstein’s victims reignited discussions about the case.
Many in the MAGA movement have found their faith shaken as Trump's previous promises to shed light on the Epstein files started to fall flat, particularly with follow-up action and inquiries remaining elusive after the DOJ's release of files.
Despite feelings of betrayal among Trump supporters, especially concerning the handling of the Epstein scandal, McBride plans to continue voting but is adamantly against supporting anyone implicated in the Epstein files or anyone sponsored by Trump.
The Epstein issues remain crucial for many, including those attending political events like CPAC. A vocal supporter at such events voiced their disappointment in Trump’s dismissive remarks about the Epstein files, indicating broader discontent within his coalition.
As political discussions shift, the question remains if the Trump administration can reestablish trust with its diverse coalition of supporters or if the Epstein saga will continue to overshadow political narratives.
