Tragic Train-Bus Collision in Central Mexico Claims at Least 10 Lives

A devastating accident involving a freight train and a passenger bus near Mexico City results in at least 10 fatalities and over 40 injuries. Investigations are underway as authorities respond to the accident's implications.

At least 10 people have been killed and more than 40 injured after a freight train collided with a double-decker bus in central Mexico, according to reports from the authorities.

The incident took place as the bus, operated by the Herradura de Plata bus company, was entering an industrial zone south of the Atlacomulco area outside Mexico City.

CCTV footage released by local news media shows the tragic moment when the train struck the passenger bus as it attempted to cross the railway tracks.

The train's operator, Canadian Pacific Kansas City, expressed condolences to the victims' families and urged drivers to respect railroad stop signs to prevent further tragedies.

Both the bus and train companies are cooperating with the investigation into the incident.

Dozens of injured passengers have been taken to various local hospitals. Eyewitness accounts and images from the site reveal a devastating scene, with parts of the bus’s roof torn off and visible destruction.

The State of Mexico's attorney general's office reported that of the deceased, seven were women and three were men. Some of the injured victims are said to be in critical condition.

This tragic event is not isolated; earlier this year, at least 21 individuals were killed in a bus crash involving a tanker truck and a van in central Mexico, and earlier still, 41 lives were lost in a similar bus accident in southern Mexico.
