Social media footage showed a significant police presence along with multiple ambulances in the Walmart parking lot. Sheriff Michael Shea announced the ongoing investigation by the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, highlighting the suspect’s use of a "folding knife style weapon."
Amid the chaotic scene, Sheriff Shea praised the actions of citizens within the store who assisted in subduing the suspect and aided the injured. "This was a joint effort all the way through, and, as I mentioned, the citizens, too," he stated, reflecting on the community's response.
As of Saturday night, the condition of the victims revealed five individuals were reported serious while six others remain in critical condition. In light of the incident, FBI personnel have been deployed to provide additional support to the local authorities.
