A fatal highway collision on Sunday evening in Afghanistan’s eastern Laghman province left two people dead and three wounded, police said, according to Xinhua.
The Hino truck slammed into a rickshaw traveling in the opposite direction in the Azizkhan Kas region along the Kabul‑to‑eastern provinces highway, the provincial police office reported.
Reckless driving was cited as the primary cause of the incident, the office added, and the injured were taken to Laghman provincial hospital for treatment.
Road accidents remain a persistent issue in war‑torn Afghanistan, with deteriorating road conditions, limited infrastructure and challenging terrain heightening the risk for drivers, Xinhua noted.
