Trump says Russia & Ukraine have agreed "energy ceasefire"
Former US president Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to an immediate "energy ceasefire," halting attacks on each side’s oil infrastructure, though no official confirmation has come from either Moscow or Kyiv.
The White House offered minimal detail beyond the statement that the ceasefire is "effective immediately". Trump has urged Ukraine to stop strikes on Russian oil facilities, noting that such strikes cut Moscow’s war budget.
Kyiv’s president Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday he would pause attacks if Russia stopped its assaults on Ukrainian energy assets, a demand that comes as the war escalates toward winter.
The BBC has sought more information from the White House; no comment has yet emerged from either side, so the claim remains unverified.
