Bollywood star Tiger Shroff was shot at on Sunday evening while driving away from a football club in the Juhu suburb of Mumbai, yet police confirmed the actor sustained no gunshot wounds.
Video footage released by multiple news outlets shows at least two gunmen firing a volley of shots at close range into the front passenger seat of Shroff’s van as it slowly drove past a gathered crowd.
Two other individuals were injured in the attack, including Shroff’s driver, according to local media reports.
The incident has cast renewed scrutiny on the security of public figures in India, following a series of high‑profile attacks over recent years. In 2024, police apprehended two gang members after a gun attack on Salman Khan’s home, and a prominent politician, Baba Siddique, was shot dead in Mumbai the same year.
Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister, Eknath Shinde, visited Shroff after the shooting and emphasized that such attempts to intimidate people “will not be tolerated” and that authorities would “put an end to this hooliganism.”
Shroff, 36, made his film debut in 2014 with the romance film Heropanti and has since starred in several successful Bollywood releases. Beyond acting, he is an avid football enthusiast and plays for the professional club Mumbai FC.
Police continue to investigate the shooting as authorities work to secure the area and identify those responsible.
