JASPER, Ga. (PulseWire) — Police in Jasper, Georgia, responded to a shooting at a Department of Veterans Affairs clinic on Tuesday around 1:30 p.m., where at least one person required airlifting to a hospital.
According to a statement posted on the city's Facebook page, police confronted a suspected shooter at the scene. The outcome of this confrontation was that the suspect was shot, although details regarding the condition of that individual have not been released.
Attempts to contact the Pickens County VA clinic around the time of the incident were unsuccessful, as calls were met with automated responses.
The Jasper outpatient clinic provides a variety of services including primary care, laboratory work, telehealth, and mental health support, aimed at improving healthcare access for local veterans since its grand opening in 2020.
