On Sunday, rescuers were alerted after climbers reported finding unattended skis near Rimpfischhorn, a notable 4,199-meter peak in the Valais Alps. Following aerial and ground searching, authorities discovered the bodies on the Adler Glacier, situated beneath the summit, as confirmed by local police.

The victims were scattered at different altitudes on avalanche debris, with three bodies found together and two located higher on a narrow snow path. A fifth pair of skis was discovered during efforts to identify the party, establishing that they had been skiing as a group of five. The identities of the deceased have not yet been disclosed as the investigation into the tragedy unfolds.

In an unrelated rescue operation carried out late Friday, Air Zermatt successfully evacuated four climbers who had become stranded on the Fiescherhörner mountain due to fog and strong winds. The first attempt to rescue them was thwarted by adverse weather conditions, but they were safely brought back after a second effort following midnight.
