In an alarming incident, a Japanese finance ministry employee lost sensitive documents while enjoying a night out with colleagues in Yokohama. On February 6, the unnamed worker reportedly consumed nine glasses of beer over five hours, ultimately leaving behind a bag full of confidential files.
The missing documents included the names and addresses of 187 individuals linked to drug smuggling, as well as recipients of marijuana seeds, according to local media reports. Additionally, the bag contained business laptops that held the employee's personal data.
After realizing the bag was lost post-train ride home to Sumida, the worker's oversight led to significant concern among officials. The finance ministry has publicly expressed regret over the situation, noting that it "significantly undermined public trust," as reported by NHK.
