BTS Members RM and V Complete Military Service, Fans Eager for Reunion

Excitement fills the air as RM and V return from military duty, fueling anticipation for a BTS comeback.

As two members of the globally-renowned K-pop group BTS complete their mandatory military service, a wave of enthusiasm washes over their devoted fan base, eagerly awaiting their return.

As RM and V stepped out from military service, fans gathered in large numbers outside the headquarters of their agency, Hybe, in Seoul to celebrate the momentous occasion. The idols warmly greeted energized crowds with salutes and a saxophone performance. V expressed excitement and urged fans to "wait just a little longer" for the full BTS reunion, which is expected as all seven members will complete their military obligations by the end of the month. BTS had entered a hiatus in 2022 at the peak of their worldwide influence.

Fans, some who traveled internationally, donned purple attire in honor of BTS and displayed large banners and photographs in front of Hybe's headquarters. “This is surreal. Being here in Seoul, where BTS started, is incredible,” exclaimed Janya, a fan from the UK. “Your journey has inspired me, and I'm so thrilled you're back!” remarked Ivory from Australia. Hannah from London planned her trip around the military discharge of the members, hopeful to see them at the upcoming annual BTS Festa celebration.

During their discharge event in Chuncheon, RM expressed heartfelt gratitude towards fans for their enduring support during the two-year hiatus. “I’m eager to jump back into my role as RM of BTS. Thank you all for your patience and support,” he stated. V shared that his time in the military allowed for personal rejuvenation and expressed eagerness to reunite with the ARMY, the official name for BTS fans.

Since debuting in 2013, BTS has skyrocketed to success, especially after a landmark US tour in 2017 that brought their unique sound—infused with pop, hip-hop, and R&B—to a broader audience. The band holds numerous accolades, being the most-streamed group on Spotify and the first K-pop act to reach the top of various music charts. Their activism extends beyond music, as they've addressed youth issues and discussed anti-Asian hate crimes at significant platforms, including the United Nations. BTS members have navigated military service deferrals and enlistments, with the eldest member, Jin, leading the way in 2022 as the group members gradually followed.
