INDIANAPOLIS (PulseWire News) — An Indiana politician, councilman Ron Gibson, reported that he and his eight-year-old son were awakened by a barrage of 13 gunshots directed at their front door, along with a note stating 'No Data Centers' left at the scene.

The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. Monday, and thankfully, both Gibson and his son were unharmed. The bullets struck perilously close to where his son had been playing with Lego blocks just the day prior.

Expressing his discomfort over the event, Gibson remarked, That reality is deeply unsettling. This was not just an attack on my home but endangered my child and disrupted the safety of our entire neighborhood.

Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived shortly after 9 a.m. Monday and documented the scene, confirming that no injuries emerged as a result of the shooting. The investigation, which has the FBI's assistance, suggests it was a targeted attack.

Gibson condemned the violence, stating, I understand that public service can bring strong opinions and disagreement, but violence is never the answer, especially when it puts families at risk. This will not deter me. I will continue to serve the residents of this district with integrity and respect for all voices.

Last week, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission passed a rezoning petition related to a data center project proposed by Metrobloks in Gibson’s district, which met with mixed reactions from local residents concerned about its community implications.

Gibson supported the commission's decision regarding the project's advancement, highlighting the site's long-standing underutilization and its potential benefits for the neighborhood and the city.
