In brief

The 29-year-old influencer allegedly sped at 158 km/h on a Perth highway while awaiting trial for rape and assault charges.

Yung Filly, the YouTube sensation known for his work with the Beta Squad collective, is caught in a whirlwind of legal troubles after being charged with reckless driving in Australia. Reportedly, Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, aged 29, was clocked speeding at 158 km/h (98 mph) on a Perth highway on November 17, an incident that took place while he was already on bail concerning rape allegations. The police allege that Barrientos’s speeding occurred in the High Wycombe area where the speed limit is set at 100 km/h, resulting in the impounding of his vehicle. Barrientos is scheduled to appear in court on November 19, where he faces accusations of reckless driving as well as multiple counts related to sexual offenses: four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one charge of impeding breathing or circulation by applying pressure to the neck. These allegations stem from an incident in September, where Barrientos is accused of bringing a woman in her 20s to his hotel room following a performance at Bar1 nightclub in Perth. He was in Australia for a music tour during the time of these incidents. Known for his appearances on shows such as ITV’s Soccer Aid and Channel 4’s Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, Barrientos was awarded a MOBO Award for Best Media Personality in 2021, showcasing his prominence in the entertainment industry. As the situation progresses, both the police and Barrientos's representatives have been contacted for comments. The ongoing developments are under close watch, especially by the YouTube audience and the media community.
