ATLANTA (PulseWire) — A group of about two dozen Buddhist monks continues on their quest for peace across the United States, despite a recent accident that left two members injured. Starting their journey on October 26 from Fort Worth, Texas, the monks have made their way to Georgia, with the ultimate goal of reaching Washington, D.C.

The monks faced a setback when their escort vehicle was struck by a truck in Texas, injuring two of their members. The Township Police reported that the truck failed to notice the slow-moving vehicle, resulting in a collision that pushed the escort vehicle into the monks walking on the side of the road.

Despite the incident, the monks remain undeterred, focusing on their message of peace and compassion. They are currently walking through Georgia and invited the public to join a Peace Gathering in Decatur this afternoon.

As they continue their trek, the monks are traveling through a total of ten states, with plans to visit locations such as Athens, North Carolina, and Richmond, Virginia.

Their social media presence has gained significant traction, with over 400,000 followers on Facebook, as supporters engage with updates about their journey and inspirational messages reflecting their commitment to peace activism.

In addition to the physical aspect of their journey, the monks emphasize community involvement through their efforts, inviting individuals to join in their gatherings and spread the message of peace.

We do not walk alone. We walk together with every person whose heart has opened to peace, whose spirit has chosen kindness, whose daily life has become a garden where understanding grows, the group shared in a recent post.

As they navigate through challenges, the monks exemplify resilience and commitment to their cause, reinforcing the importance of peace in a world often marked by conflict.
