A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly car bomb attack that killed eight people and wounded 20 others in Delhi last week, authorities have said.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) stated that the car used in the attack was registered in the suspect's name.
They have accused him of conspiring with the alleged suicide bomber, who is believed to be associated with the attack. The explosion took place near a metro station close to the Red Fort, a significant historical landmark in Delhi.
The NIA has also seized another vehicle that allegedly belonged to the suicide bomber for further examination and has interrogated 73 witnesses, including survivors of the explosion.
The blast, which occurred on a Monday evening around 18:52 local time, was reportedly the first homicide of this nature in the heavily guarded city since 2011.
Eyewitness reports indicated that a white Hyundai i20 was the vehicle involved, leaving behind a scene of devastation with charred remains and damaged vehicles.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack as a 'conspiracy,' promising that all responsible parties would face justice.
Meanwhile, the investigation is examining potential links to the recent arrests made in Kashmir and a significant explosive seizure in a Delhi suburb.
The Red Fort, built in the 17th century, attracts thousands of tourists daily and serves as a backdrop for national celebrations.
