On Thursday, 2:20 p.m. local time, Avalon Airport became the scene of an alarming incident as a 17-year-old boy was forcibly subdued onboard Jetstar Flight 610. The teen, whose identity remains undisclosed, allegedly entered the aircraft with a loaded shotgun and made threats involving explosives.

The situation unfolded as over 150 passengers prepared to take off for Sydney. According to reports from Victoria Police, a crew member questioned the teenager about his credentials, prompting an aggressive response that led to the weapon being drawn. "He got agitated and before we know it there was a gun, a shotgun appeared," said Barry Clark, a sheep shearer en route to a football match in Sydney.

In a courageous act, Clark intervened, successfully disarming the teen by utilizing a technique to restrain him until police arrived on the scene. “I then proceeded to do what I had to do and just put him in a bit of a lock, got his hand and twisted it and put it up in his back,” Clark detailed, sharing his account with ABC Radio Melbourne.

Authorities promptly responded by searching the boy’s bags and vehicle, enlisting a bomb response unit to ensure safety measures were met. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the teenage suspect now faces multiple charges following the incident, affirming the swift and heroic actions of the passengers and crew aboard the flight.
