In brief
The Prince Naif Quran Memorization Competition, organized by the Interior Ministry, has begun its preliminary rounds in Medina. The event, aimed at inner security forces, offers a collective prize of 3 million riyals and utilizes an electronic scoring platform overseen by a scientific committee. The competition honors the memory of Prince Naif, highlighting his commitment to Quranic memorization.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the preliminary rounds of the Prince Naif Quran Memorization Competition have started in the Medina region on 6 November 2026. The event, organised by the Ministry of Interior, invites civil and security personnel from the emirate to participate.
Ministry officials said the competition is the first edition in the Kingdom and is being held at the Emirate office in Medina after an inauguration ceremony led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Emir of the Medina region, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Abdulaziz, the deputy emir.
The contest offers a total prize fund of three million riyals and is divided into five branches. An electronic scoring system, supervised by a specialised scientific committee, ensures precise, fair assessment of each participant’s performance.
In a statement released by the Interior Ministry, the competition is said to promote memorisation and recitation of the Qurʼan among ministry staff, the emirates, and security sectors, thereby reinforcing spiritual values and moral conduct. The event is also intended as a tribute to the late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, who devoted many years to the ministry and championed Quranic education during his tenure.
Participants are expected to pursue the memorisation of the Qurʼan and its proper recitation as a means of building character, the ministry officials added. The preliminary rounds will continue in the coming weeks, with finals slated for a later date in the same region.
